Beauty and Function: Free Form Lazy River

Luxury pool design team proves commercial doesn’t mean cookie cutter.

The free form lazy river at Campion in Lafayette, Louisiana, is one of the many projects GW Oliver Construction has designed and built that is changing the way student housing amenities are measured. As luxury residential and commercial builders, they are strong believers that commercial doesn’t mean cookie cutter.

“Beauty and function should never be a one or another kind of thing in the aquatic world. Bringing luxury to the commercial pool world is what it is all about,” comments Katie Oliver of GW Oliver, “In a world of overtime and over budget, we strive to over deliver.”

This lazy river / pool combo, designed in-house by GW Oliver and engineered by Southeast Engineers, showcases just that.

From the lazy river powered by Riverflow Pumps by Current Systems to the acrylic wall infinity edge by Aquatic Glazing International to the turf island that is ideal for activities like corn hole, the entire project helps raise the bar for student housing amenities.

The design was a work of art, utilizing the site’s elevations to create the acrylic wall overflow and creating multiple areas for different groups of students to gather with something new to catch the eye at every turn.

“Whether a striking infinity edge with water flowing over the panel or an underwater window for a unique view, acrylic walls and windows elevate pools to a new level of artistic luxury,” adds Jason Jovaag of Aquatic Glazing International.
