toledoblade.com - The summer fun at city pools this year was not fully funded by donations — as Toledo officials had hoped — but instead cost taxpayers roughly $45,000, Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson said.
“I wish we could have gotten every expense covered but we did have great partners who gave monetary donations,” the mayor said.
Toledo’s city pools recorded attendance of 21,988 this year, up from 16,943 last year. Admission was $1 for everyone age 2 and older and the pools were used for many activities.
Expenses for the city’s six pools and one splash pad, which were open from June 25 to Aug.
