Bountiful in color and size, this poolscape is a tropical dream. Under the enigmatic charms of the pergola, the entire setting can be fully appreciated: the dramatic fire features, the lush landscaping, and the glass tile details that are used throughout to emphasize the pool’s bold hues and tones.
Dynamic Designs
Water In Transit was a solution to a problem that turned into a full time enterprise. Christopher Gates, lead designer and founder, started Gates Construction & Design, LLC to build high-end homes in the Biloxi/Ocean Springs area, but when a client asked him to feature an exotic swimming pool into the overall design, he met with a challenge: he could not find a local craftsman to handle the specs. Calling upon his background in fine arts and construction, he planned his first pool. “I soon discovered the value of my out-of-the-box type of thinking,” says Gates. “In the past, I won design awards and gained recognition from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Six Flags Over Texas, and Knott’s Berry Farm for my set designs. When I sit down to develop a pool for a client, I turn to that experience in design and art to create a one-of-a-kind poolscape.”
Gates maintains a hands-on approach from conception through construction, working in various mediums. He implements his extensive understanding of color, light, and effects for predominately private residential design and construction projects, and has built more than 100 swimming pools and water features. “Subtlety with color and in auditory qualities impacts one’s mood,” says Gates. “And as in fine sculpture, aquatic art creates an aura, literally establishing an environment.”
Gates Construction and Design, LLC is a gold member of the Genesis 3 Design Group and holds State General Contractor’s and Commercial Swimming Pool licenses. Gates has won design awards and gained recognition for his work, including being named by San Juan Pools as Pool Builder of the Year in 2007 and 2008 and Pool Builder of Excellence in 2008.
