This International Gold award-winner looks equally dramatic in summer and winter. With a beach entry, a hidden grotto, and geo-thermal heating, there is no better place to sit back, relax, and watch the snow fall.
All Weather Pleasure
Valley Pool and Spa has brought an entirely new level of precision and beauty to the outdoor living and swimming pool industries in Canada. Owner Gene Brown specializes in vanishing edges, perimeter overflows, and other challenging designs for residential as well as commercial clients. From high rise projects 15 stories above ground to underground pools two stories below grade, to windows in the vessel walls, the “unusual” is not unusual for Valley Pools.
The cold-weather extremes of Canada pose special challenges for pool construction, but that’s not a problem for this builder. When finished, the norm is for pool walls to be as much as two feet thick, with additional insulation for the plumbing, the equipment, and between the water vessel and the ground. Many of these creations use geo-thermal heating to keep them energy-efficient and usable year-round.
For the utmost in accuracy, Valley Pool and Spa uses the unique cast-in-place method of pool construction. Based on the technology used to build modern skyscrapers, this method requires on-site fabrication of custom multi-sided forms. The forms are filled with concrete and then agitated to remove all voids. This is a more labor-intensive process, but it produces exact tolerances within a few hundredths of an inch across a fifty foot run.
Brown is the only Canadian platinum member of the Genesis 3 Design Group, and in fact, works in partnership with Genesis 3 co-founder and designer Skip Phillips on many of his Canadian projects. Additionally, Brown is a certified and accredited member of the Society of Watershape Designers and the Carecraft Industry Group. His projects have won numerous honors, including The Art of Water award from the Canadian magazine Pool, Spa and Patio. “Our staff is highly skilled and talented,” says Brown. “We do what it takes to turn your backyard into a stunning resort.”
