Ready to ride down a water slide then relax in a lazy river? How about both? This hundred-acre property combines the elements of a tropical getaway with a backyard water park.
The builder/designer Scott Girner, president and owner of Elite Pools by Scott, Little Rock, Arkansas, set out to blend the home’s architecture with the allure of a Caribbean getaway chock full of fun features the whole family and extended family could enjoy.
Above: A bridge from the deck leads to a center island with seating for two around the firepit overlooking the lazy river. The unique hanging orange chairs add a bright pop of color as well as a cozy place to relax.
To create the island theme, Girner added all the elements on the homeowners’ wish list, including a custom waterslide, 70-foot-long lazy river, waterfall grotto, and a firepit. Through the use of native Arkansas flagstone for the coping and the beach entry, Girner was able to connect the pool with the home’s rock and cedar architecture. A Hydrazzo Mediterranean Blue finish was chosen to give the water its depth. The result is a fun yet luxurious outdoor retreat.
A 32-foot waterslide crosses the lazy river and a corner of the island, adding an extra splash of fun to this backyard resort. The firepits add some dramatic flare while the rock waterfalls, palm trees, and tropical plants transform the entire setting into a Caribbean escape.
After doing a cannonball off the diving board, riding down the waterslide, and spending hours in the lazy river, you can hang out in this state-of-the-art cabana. It has almost everything you could want: an outdoor kitchen, changing rooms, bathroom, entertainment center, and even a laundry room. The entire ceiling is trimmed in rough cedar to match the architecture of the home.
